Uncodified Acts of Assembly

Acts of Assembly that are not part of the Code of Virginia and that are limited in duration of time and effect. These acts have special application relating to particular persons, things, or places. They apply to fewer than all members of a class, either by omission of persons, things, or places falling naturally within the class or by exceptions to the class. They arbitrarily separate some persons, places, or things from those upon which, but for the separation, it would operate. They require a super majority vote.

Most Acts of Assembly are available electronically on the Legislative Information System since the 1994 Session of the General Assembly and on paper at many law libraries throughout the Commonwealth.

A compilation of uncodified acts by General Assembly session is available on the Virginia Law portal. For more information, contact the Division of Legislative Services.
