Case #2 - Constrained
Dispatch Solution Ignoring Thermal Limit
Notes:
- When we dispatch the system for this increased load, ignoring the thermal limit, we have the following results:
- Brighton is dispatched at 600 MW.
- Alta is the next least expensive unit, so we dispatch it for its full capacity at 110 MW.
- Park City is then dispatched at 100 MW. We still have 90 MW of load to serve, so we dispatch Sundance at 90 MW.
- We have now served our 900 MW load.
- But we see that with these withdraws and injections, we have a violation, which is not acceptable.
- We need to re-dispatch our system to meet this load and not violate the thermal limit.
