Coordinated programs at the local level emerged as a result of local agencies identifying needs and priorities, identifying funds, planning, implementing, and coordinating services.
Services vary within each locality as a result
Results of a VACSB Questionnaire to 39 member CSBs:
29 members responded. Of these 29:
- 26 provide some MH services to jail inmates. The other 3 cited local jail contracts with private agents.
- 29 provide some SA services to jail inmates.
- 29 provide some services to released offenders if offenders present at the CSB for services.
- All 29 CSBs expressed the desire to provide more extensive and specific services for jails but cited the lack of CSB and jail resources as the primary factor. Lack of space to provide services at local jails was also cited as a secondary factor.
Data is to be gathered for this Study Committee and VACSB will assist in this effort.
