Now let’s look at how we serve the 669 MW load with this available generation.
Remember, generators are dispatched to meet load in order of the bids, beginning with the least expensive unit.
Our most least expensive unit is the Brighton unit at a bid of $10/MWh. But the available capacity at Brighton is not enough to meet 669 MW of load.
Our next most least expensive unit is the Alta unit at $14/MWh. So we dispatch 69 MW from the Alta unit, in addition to the 600 MW from Brighton.
