The joint subcommittee will receive the Structure & Transition and Stranded Costs task force reports at this meeting. These reports summarize and analyze the positions of stakeholders and interested parties who submitted plans and proposals to the task forces. Following each report's presentation, joint subcommittee members and representatives of stakeholders and interested parties whose plans were reviewed, will discuss the reports (and the issues they raise) in a roundtable format. Questions and comments from the audience will also be encouraged. It is anticipated that the task force chairmen will lead these discussions.
Senator Jack Reasor, the joint subcommittee's chairman, encourages all stakeholders and interested parties to attend this critical meeting. These reports-identifying (i) key restructuring structure, transition and stranded costs issues, and (ii) agreement and disagreement on such key issues-encompass a substantial portion of the restructuring debate in Virginia. A vigorous roundtable on these important issues is crucial to advancing the work of this joint subcommittee-particularly in separating those controversial issues that must be specifically resolved through legislation, from those that can be addressed by the SCC with the assistance of legislative guidelines.
Note: Representatives of stakeholders and interested parties who submitted plans or proposals to the task forces will be seated at tables opposite or adjacent to the joint subcommittee. Stakeholders and interested parties are requested to contact joint subcommittee staff as soon as possible to provide them with the names of their roundtable representatives for each report.
