Local Jails
Local jails account for approximately 67% of the total inmate days in the Commonwealth.
At the end of FY 99, there were 18,048 offenders in local jails; of this, 24% (4,335) were state responsible inmates.
State appropriations to local jails through the Compensation Board for FY 2001 were $46,861,938.
