Departmental Overview
The purpose of the Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act (VJCCCA) is to deter crime by providing immediate, effective punishment that emphasizes accountability of the juvenile offender for his actions as well a reduces the pattern to repeat offending. VJCCCA also serves as an alternative to detention. FY 2000 was the first full year of data collection for VJCCCA.
In January, the State & Local Partnerships Section of our Department’s Division of Community Programs published a comprehensive annual report. The report gives baseline data only, but in future years as this important program progresses, we will be able to provide more comparison data and to track trends.
