FY 2003-FY 2004 budget reductions: Effect on inpatient treatment of offenders
10-15% of DMHMRSAS inpatients come from jails for evaluation and treatment
Any further loss of direct care and administrative staff likely to:
- Lengthen waiting time for admission to facilities;
- Increase management problems for jails
- Increase LOS, due to decreased staff/patient ratio for treatment in forensic programs
- Produce delays with providing reports to courts, due to administrative staff cuts
