Is there a need for a separate system of drug court funding?
Part of the effectiveness of drug courts is the accountability and interdependence created by pooling resources.
A separate system of drug court funding allows us to clearly evaluate the cost-benefits associated with drug courts.
Why should we fund drug courts when we already fund treatment and probation?
- We support the blending of resources with contributions made by both the treatment and probation systems. However, we contend that it is the unique mixture of the power of the judiciary coupled with intensive treatment and probation services in drug court that results in increased effectiveness over the traditional treatment and/or probation system.
