Probability: Treating, Reducing or Eliminating the Risk
Retention in treatment is the greatest factor in predicting long-term sobriety. Drug courts keep clients in treatment longer.
- Addicts who stay in treatment a year or more are twice as likely to stay clean. Half of voluntary clients drop out in the first three months. Only 10 – 30% of voluntary clients stay at least a year in treatment. In contrast, 62% of adult drug court clients (53% of juveniles) stay a year or more in treatment.
